WACO * The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islander track team
continued to do what they
do best * score points in distance races.
The Islanders had four top eight performances, including two top
three finishes,
highlighted by Karla West's second place finish in the
400-meter
Karla West ran her best race of the season with a time of 63.19 in
the 400-hurdles
for a second place finish at the Michael Johnson Invitational. In
the 1500-meter
run, Rachel Hudson and Anita Quirino placed third and fourth with
times of 4:53.21
and 4:55.66 respectively.
Kenyata Mathews was just as good, placing fourth in the 400-meter
dash with a
personal best of 56.19.
Next week, the Islanders will have a full squad at the Rice
Invitational in Houston
on the campus of Rice University.
