Texas A&M-Corpus Christi softball has signed with Wilson
Sporting Goods Co. and DeMarini Sports for 2004. In the agreement
reached between Wilson, DeMarini and Islander head coach Missy
Phillips-Dickerson, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi will use Wilson
gear and exclusively swing DeMarini bats for the 2004 season.
?Wilson and DeMarini have technology and quality in their gear
that far surpasses their competition,? Phillips-Dickerson said. ?We
think the high-performance DeMarini bats provide an extra pop that
will help us accomplish loftier goals.?
The Islanders won the Big South Conference Championship with a
31-24 record under Phillips-Dickerson in her first season with the
program. The squad competed in their first NCAA Division I NCAA
Regional Tournament.
?A&M competes at the highest level, and they?ve decided to use
our product exclusively,? said Jim Hackett, Business Director for
Wilson Baseball and Softball. ?Their goal is to win ball games, and
they need the best equipment available. We?re proud they?ve chosen
Wilson gear and DeMarini bats to achieve their goals.?
Under the agreement, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi players will
choose from DeMarini?s 2004 line of high performance fastpitch
bats.
The Islanders will also choose from Wilson?s softball gloves,
uniforms, batting gloves and other softball accessories.
Established in 1989, DeMarini Sports took the bat industry by
storm with the world?s first high-tech softball bat. Acquired by
Wilson Sporting Goods in 2000, DeMarini continues to research,
design and build high-performance softball and baseball bats in its
state-of-the-art Hillsboro, Oregon facility.
