HOUSTON - Texas A&M-Corpus Christi scored all three of their
runs in the final innings of the game to take a 3-2 victory over
Baylor in the University of Houston Tournament.
Freshman Jennifer Golden hit a two-run homerun in the top of the
sixth inning to tie the score at 2. Michelle Petree reached on an
error with one out and was driven in on Golden?s bomb over the
right field fence.
In the top of the seventh inning, freshman Shana Washington and
Brenda Guerrero singled with one out and would advance to second
and third on a throwing error by the center fielder to put both
runners in scoring position.
The Islanders would cross the go-ahead run past home plate on a
past ball to lift the Islanders to their fourth win of the
season.
Junior pitcher Sarah Pauly tallied 10 strikeouts without a walk
and now has 45 k?s in 28 innings pitched.
In the Islanders first game of the day, Louisiana Monroe blanked
the Islanders 8-0 in six innings to had the Texas A&M-Corpus
Christi their third loss of the season.
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi will face Northern Iowa at 10 a.m.
tomorrow morning and will also face Sam Houston State and Houston
at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.
