Texas A&M-Corpus Christi head baseball coach Hector Salinas
has announced his schedule for the 2004 season which will feature
53 games and 17 different opponents.
The 2004 schedule features three Big 12 opponents in Texas A&M,
Texas and Oklahoma State as well as six Southland Conference
schools.
TAMUCC will open the season on Feb. 6-8 with a three-game series
with Texas State in San Marcos. The season opener will start at
6:30 p.m. at Bobcat Field.
The Islanders will come home to host their season opener on Feb. 10
against Incarnate Word at 2 p.m. before hitting the road once again
to face Texas A&M on Feb. 13-15 in College Station. The Aggies
open the season as the No. 21 team in the Baseball America
preseason poll.
They will not return home until Feb. 20 when they host Northern
Colorado for a four-game series at Islander field.
TAMUCC will travel to Austin once again this season to face the
University of Texas, who is No. 8 in the Baseball America preseason
poll.
The Islanders will host a three-game series with Sam Houston State
on Feb. 27-29 before hitting the road to face Northwestern State in
Natchitoches, La., both of which are Southland Conference schools.
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi will return home for a brief stint,
facing Texas-Pan American in a doubleheader on March 9 and will hit
the road for the next 11 games over 18 days facing Texas Arlington,
Dallas Baptist, Oklahoma State, Prairie View A&M and Lamar.
The Islanders will return home for their next five games, facing
Centenary for a three-game series on April 3-4 and Lamar for a
doubleheader on April 6 at Islander field. After the home series,
they will travel to Edinburg to face Texas-Pan American on April 9
for a doubleheader before coming home for their longest homestand
of the season.
A&M-CC will host St. Mary's for a doubleheader on April 13, a
doubleheader with Texas Southern on April 14 and a doubleheader
with Texas San Antonio on April 21 to close out their home season.
The remaining six games will be on the road, four in Greeley, Colo.
against Northern Colorado and the final two games in San Antonio
against Texas-San Antonio.
