CORPUS CHRISTI, TEX. --- Three former Texas
A&M-Corpus Christi baseball players have signed professional
contracts to play in the Southeastern League of the Independent
Leagues, it was announced.
Jimmy Hamon (Pasadena, Tex.) and Eric Martanovic (Austin, Tex.)
have signed to play for the Houma Hawks, while Blair Bourque
(Taunton, Mass.) inked with the defending champion Pensacola
Pelicans. Houma, which is located about an hour south of New
Orleans, is in its inaugural season.
Hamon completed his senior season for the Islanders with a 9-2,
4.06 ERA. In 99.2 innings of work, he fanned a school record 107
batters.
Martanovic went 4-1 with a 4.24 ERA and notched one save. The
senior punched out 43 batters in 57.1 innings.
Bourque saw action in 49 of 50 games, making all starts at catcher.
During his final campaign, he hit .250 with 9 homers and 34 RBI.
Bourque was named the Flint Hills Resources Islander Male Scholar
Athlete of the Year.
