COLLEGE STATION, TEX. ? Jason Sepeda (Sweetwater, Tex.) recorded
a first place finish as Texas A&M-Corpus Christi competed at
the Texas A&M Invitational, Saturday.
The junior posted a time of 1:54.21 in the men?s 800-meter run to
grab the Islanders lone first place finish in the meet.
In other action on the men?s side, Nathan Armstrong (Smithville,
Tex.) placed sixth in the steeplechase (10:26.3), while A&M-CC
finished fourth in the 4X400 team relay.
Freshman Keith Gordon (San Antonio, Tex.), the Islanders record
holder in the triple jump, finished seventh with a jump of
45-1.5.
In women?s action, Rachel Hudson (Rockport, Tex.) finished second
in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 18:06, while Nicole Warren
(LaPorte, Tex.) crossed the line in 18:49, good for eighth.
In the 1,500-meter run, Hudson finished third at 4:45.1 followed by
Bree Wilson (San Antonio, Tex.) in sixth at 4:54.6 and Warren in
seventh with a time of 4.55.
Also, Kenyatta Mathews (San Antonio, Tex.) placed fourth in the
400-meter dash (57.95).
In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, Jennifer Miller (Los Fresnos,
Tex.) finished third with a time of 12:08.
Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Kansas State, UT-Arlington, Sam
Houston State, Stephen F. Austin, Northwestern State, Trinity,
Angelo State, and Monmouth (N.J.) all participated in the
Invitational.
