Women’s Cross Country/Track and Field Inks Paola Perez to NLI

CORPUS CHRISTI – Paola Perez (Corpus Christi, Texas/Flour Bluff HS), has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Texas A&M - Corpus Christi women's cross country and track and field teams, Director of Cross Country and Track and Field Shawn Flanagan announced today. Perez will join the Islanders program for the 2012-13 season. 

"She is a runner with a lot of potential for improvement," Flanagan said. "I think she will really blossom in an environment where she has runners in front of her everyday to train with." 

In April, Perez clocked a personal-best time of 5:20.97 in the 1600m at the 4A track and field regional meet to place fourth. At the 2011 District 31-4A cross country meet, the senior crossed the line in third place in the two mile with a personal-best time of 11:59.40. Perez has competed the past two years in the two mile at the cross country Islander Splash. 

Perez will join Ashley Mills (Kingwood, Texas/Kingwood HS), Abel Koskey (Eldoret, Kenya/UTEP), Alexandra Fernandez (Corpus Christi/Carroll HS) Kim Ward (Corpus Christi/Moody HS), Regina Salinas (Corpus Christi/Incarnate Word), Samantha Hardin (Montgomery/ Montgomery HS) and Joel Gracia (La Joya/Juarez Lincoln HS) for the 2012-13 recruiting class.
