Volleyball Coach Tony Graystone Receives Contract Extension
CORPUS CHRISTI – Tony Graystone has agreed to a three-year contract extension as the head coach of the Texas A&M – Corpus Christi volleyball program, Director of Athletics Scott Lazenby announced today. The extension will keep Graystone at the helm of the Islanders through the 2015 season.

Islanders Place 30 on Southland Conference Commissioner’s Fall Honor Roll
The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi Department of Athletics placed 30 student-athletes on the 2012 Southland Conference Commissioner’s Fall Honor Roll, tying an all-time high for the program in school history.

Shannon Hullum and Logen Bourque Named to Southland All-Academic Teams
A pair of Texas A&M – Corpus Christi Volleyball players were named to the Southland Conference Volleyball All-Academic Teams on Thursday, the league office announced. Shannon Hullum was named to the first team, while Logen Bourque garnered a spot of the second team.

Islanders Set For Southland Conference Tournament Match against ORU
CONWAY, Ark. – The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi Volleyball team will be looking to continue making Islanders history on Friday afternoon when it takes on Oral Roberts in the first round of the Southland Conference Tournament on the Central Arkansas campus. The team will be looking for the first tournament win in school history to add to a season that already boasts the most wins in school history and the best Southland finish since joining the league.

Volleyball Season Comes to a Close With Loss in Southland Conference Tournament
CONWAY, Ark. – The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi Volleyball team saw its season come to a close on Friday afternoon in a 3-0 (25-20, 25-16, 25-18) loss to Oral Roberts in the quarterfinal round of the Southland Conference Tournament. The team finished with school records in overall wins (21) and Southland wins (12) while finishing the season in third place of the league standings, also another best in program history.

Morgan Carlson Signs NLI With Islanders Volleyball
With senior Shannon Hullum completing her eligibility at Texas A&M – Corpus Christi at the conclusion of this season, head coach Tony Graystone knew he would have big shoes to fill on the right side of the Islanders offensive attack. On Wednesday afternoon around 5 p.m. Central time, he got a National Letter of Intent from Morgan Carlson to help ease the worries he had about the position.

Shannon Hullum, Brooke Alverson Named to All-Southland Teams
The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi Volleyball team had two players named to the year end All-Southland Conference teams on Wednesday, with senior Shannon Hullum earning First Team All-Southland honors and junior Brooke Alverson was voted to the second team, while sophomore Brianna Brink was named honorable mention. The honors are voted on the league coaches and sports information directors.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi Volleyball team got a big match from Shannon Hullum in the final home match of her career, with the senior notching 13 kills while the team dominated early on the way to a 3-0 (25-9, 25-14, 25-22) win to close out the regular season. It was also Shannon Hullum Day, with the program and athletic department honoring the lone senior on the team in the final regular season match of her career.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi Volleyball team picked up a 3-1 (25-21, 25-15, 23-25, 25-22) final behind a triple-double by Logen Bourque on Thursday night. It was also the 20th win of the year for the team, a first in school history.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi Volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (25-23, 25-21, 25-22) final against Stephen F. Austin in a Southland Conference road match, the final one of the year for the Islanders. The team will return home for a pair of matches against Lamar and McNeese State on Thursday and Saturday before playing in the Southland Conference Tournament next week in Conway, Ark.

HOUSTON, Texas – The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi Volleyball team picked up its 19th win of the season on Monday night, taking a 3-0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-16) final over the Prairie View A&M Panthers on the road. The team will finish its road schedule for the year on Tuesday night in a 6:30 p.m. against the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi Volleyball team picked up a 3-0 (25-11, 25-18, 25-15) sweep over Southeastern Louisiana in a Southland Conference match at the Dugan Wellness Center on Saturday afternoon. The win was the 18th of the season for the team, a new program record.

The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi Volleyball team will play a Southland Conference match at home for the first time in 26 days this Thursday when the Nicholls Colonels come to town. The match is set for a 7 p.m. start at the Dugan Wellness Center and will feature a 70’s vs. 90’s costume contest and is also Faculty/Staff Appreciation Night.

Bourque, Nolan Set Islanders Milestones as Team Ties Single Season Win Total
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi Volleyball team snapped a three-match losing streak on Thursday night, returning home after five consecutive Southland Conference road matches for a 3-1 (25-15, 25-14, 22-25, 25-23) win over the Nicholls Colonels at the Dugan Wellness Center. Setter Logen Bourque and libero Micah Nolan set new milestones in team history in the match, with Bourque becoming the first Islander to reach 3,000 assists in a career, and Nolan earned the 1,500th dig of her career in the win over the Colonels.

Islanders Fall To Golden Eagles in Final Leg of Road Trip
TULSA, Okla. – The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi Volleyball team was unable to get on track Saturday afternoon, absorbing a 3-0 (25-25-19, 25-20, 25-17) defeat against the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles to end a stretch of five consecutive Southland Conference matches on the road. The team will return home to face the Nicholls Colonels on Thursday, Nov. 1 at the Dugan Wellness Center.

The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi Volleyball team will once again be on the road in an important Southland Conference trip this week, facing first-place Central Arkansas on Thursday night at 7 p.m. in Conway, Ark. before making the program’s first trip to Tulsa, Okla. to face Oral Roberts, the newest member of the league. It two matches will be the last of five straight league contests on the road before four of the final five in the Dugan Wellness Center.

The Islanders face Oral Roberts on Saturday in Tulsa, Okla. to conclude a stretch of five league matches on the road.

HUNTSVILLE, Texas – The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi Volleyball team fell victim to a slow start against Sam Houston State on Thursday night, losing 3-1 (25-18, 25-12, 30-32, 29-27) to the Bearkats in Southland Conference action. The loss snapped the Islanders seven-match winning streak and moves SHSU into second place while the team falls to third in the league standings.

The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi Volleyball team will try to earn a season sweep on Tuesday night when it hosts the Texas – Pan American Lady Broncs in the final non-conference home match of the season. The Islanders won a 3-1 match earlier in the season against UTPA in Edinburg.

CORPUS CHRISTI – The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi Volleyball team picked up its 16th win of the season on Tuesday night, taking a 3-0 (25-12, 25-17, 25-16) sweep over the Texas – Pan American Lady Broncs in the final non-conference home match of the season. The 16 wins are one shy of tying the all-time school record of 17 set during the 2005 season.

The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi Volleyball team will look to extend its Southland Conference winning streak this week, playing on the road versus the Lamar Lady Cardinals on Thursday, Oct. 11 in Beaumont, and then traveling to Lake Charles, La. the next day for a match against the McNeese State Cowgirls.

CORPUS CHRISTI – The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi Volleyball team picked up a big win on Thursday night in Southland Conference play, winning 3-1 (25-23, 25-22, 22-25, 25-19) against Northwestern State. It was the annual ‘Dig Pink’ night at the Dugan Wellness Center and the teams played in front of a 1,209 fans, the largest of the season and just 40 short of the all-time high.

Alverson led her team to a 2-0 start in league play, including handing Central Arkansas their only loss of the year.

CORPUS CHRISTI – The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi Volleyball team earned a 3-0 (25-15, 25-22, 25-18) sweep over Oral Roberts on Saturday afternoon to improve to 2-0 in Southland Conference play. Tyger Holt had a career day on her birthday, picking up 13 kills on just 17 attacks for a .765 hitting percentage while adding three block assists.

Match time is set for 7 p.m. and fans are encouraged to wear blue to support the Islanders in the Southland Conference opener for both teams.

Volleyball Wins Thriller Over Central Arkansas in Epic Southland Match
CORPUS CHRISTI – The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi Volleyball team won in dramatic fashion in the Southland Conference and home opener on Thursday, taking a 3-2 (27-25, 25-18, 19-25, 15-25, 15-13) final over Central Arkansas in the closest match of the year for either team. Central Arkansas came into the match undefeated and having lost only two sets all season before the 3-2 loss to the host Islanders.

Islanders Sweep Host North Texas to Close Out Mean Green Volleyball Classic
DENTON – The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi Volleyball team picked up another win on Saturday, closing out the Mean Green Volleyball Classic with a 3-0 (25-22, 25-19, 26-24) sweep of host North Texas. The team finished with a 2-1 record with sweeps over Hofstra and UNT in the final preconference match of the season. Shannon Hullum and Ivy Baresh were named to the All-Tournament Team for their performances during the weekend.

The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi Volleyball team will complete pre-conference play this weekend at the Mean Green Volleyball Classic where they will take on Hofstra, Eastern Michigan and North Texas in Denton. The team will play two matches on Friday, and finish the tourney against host North Texas on Saturday.

DENTON – The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi Volleyball team lost a 3-0 (25-13, 25-18, 25-23) final to Eastern Michigan on Saturday to finish 1-1 on the first day of the Mean Green Volleyball Classic. The team won a 3-0 final over Hofstra to start the day and will conclude play in the tourney on Saturday at 11 a.m. when they take on host North Texas.

Volleyball Gets Back on Track with Sweep, First Win Over UT Arlington in Graystone Era
ARLINGTON – The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi Volleyball team picked up a non-conference victory over a longtime Southland foe on Monday, earning a 3-0 (25-14, 25-23, 25-22) sweep over the UT Arlington Mavericks in the Labor Day matchup. The win marked the first win over UTA in Tony Graystone’s tenure as the Islanders head coach, and was just the second time in program history that they had come out victorious against the Mavs.

FORT WORTH – The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi Volleyball team fought hard, but came up short against the host TCU Horned Frogs on Saturday afternoon, dropping a 3-0 (25-22, 25-23, 25-22) final in the middle match of the TCU Nike Invitational. The Islanders will complete play in the tourney at 4:30 p.m. against SMU.

FORT WORTH – The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi Volleyball team battled hard, but were unable to pick up a set against SMU on Saturday afternoon, falling 3-0 (26-24, 25-20, 25-21) to finish play in the TCU Nike Invitational. A match against UT Arlington on Monday, Sept. 3, at 1 p.m. will close the trip north for the Islanders.

The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi Volleyball team will spend the second weekend of the season in north Texas as the team takes part in the TCU Nike Invitational on the TCU campus. The Islanders are schedule to play Army, TCU and SMU in the tournament, and will stay in The Metroplex for a Monday, Sept. 3, against UT Arlington.

FORT WORTH – The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi Volleyball team picked up a 3-0 (25-23, 25-12, 25-17) sweep of Army on Friday afternoon in the TCU Nike Invitational, marking the best start in the tenure of head coach Tony Graystone with the fourth straight victory after a season-opening loss against Baylor. Next up for the team will be a 12:30 p.m. match against host TCU on Saturday, and then a 4:30 p.m. contest against SMU to finish tourney play.

EDINBURG – The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi volleyball team picked up its third-straight win on Tuesday night, with Shannon Hullum leading the way to the Islanders’ 3-1 (25-20, 25-18, 21-25, 25-19) victory against Texas – Pan American. Hullum led four players in double-digit kills (17), with Ivy Baresh and Brooke Alverson picking up 14 each and Brianna Brink totaling 11 on the night.

WACO – The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi Volleyball team picked up another victory on Saturday, beating Nevada 3-1 (25-27, 25-20, 25-14, 25-23) to finish the Fairfield Inn North Baylor Classic. Brianna Brink and Micah Nolan were named to the all-tournament team after their performances on the second day.

Islanders Sweep Tulane to Earn First Win of Season
WACO – The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi Volleyball team powered their way to a sweep over the Tulane Green Wave on Saturday, winning a close 3-0 (25-21, 25-22, 26-24) to earn the first win of the season. The team will be back in action on Saturday afternoon in a 4:30 p.m. match against Nevada to finish play in the Fairfield Inn North Baylor Classic.

Baylor Blocks Islanders From Win in Season Opener
WACO – The battle was won at the net on Friday, as the Texas A&M – Corpus Christi volleyball team was unable to control the net, falling 3-0 (25-11, 25-20, 25-19) in the opening match of the season against the Baylor Bears. The Islanders were unable to get any blocks on the night while Baylor posted 16 total blocks, one on a block solo and 30 block assists.

Volleyball Opens Season at Baylor Classic
The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi Volleyball team will kickoff the season on Friday evening, taking on host Baylor in the Fairfield Inn North Baylor Classic on the Bears campus in Waco. It will be the first of three matches on the weekend, with contests against Tulane and Nevada to follow on Saturday.

Brooke Alverson Named Pre-Season All-Southland
CORPUS CHRISTI – Texas A&M – Corpus Christi junior Brooke Alverson was named Preseason Second Team All-Southland, the only Islander player recognized by the league. The volleyball team was picked to make its first Southland Conference Tournament appearance since 2006 on Wednesday, being picked to finish seventh in the standings by both the coaches and sports information directors around the league.

Islanders Volleyball Sets Challenging 2012 Schedule
The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi volleyball team will not have to travel far for tough competition, with just six matches on the 2012 schedule coming outside the Texas borders this year. The Islanders will play seven contests against teams that finished last year in the Top 100 of the RPI.
