Texas A&M - Corpus Christi to Host Volleyball, Tennis Championships in 2013-14
Texas A&M – Corpus Christi will serve as the host of the Southland Conference Volleyball and Tennis Championships in the 2013-14 school year, the league announced. It will be the first time that the Islanders have hosted the volleyball championship and the third time for the tennis championship.

Islanders Volleyball Undefeated in UTPA Spring Tournament
The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi volleyball team went undefeated on Saturday in what will be the only outside competition of the spring, going 4-0 at the UTPA Spring Tournament in Edinburg. The Islanders defeated Texas A&M – Kingsville, Texas A&M – International, Texas – Pan American and Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon in their four matches at the event.

The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi volleyball team will travel to Edinburg this weekend for a spring tournament hosted by Texas – Pan American. In addition to the Islanders and Lady Broncs, Texas A&M – International, Texas A&M – Kingsville and Universidad Autonomy de Nuevo Leon will participate in the tournament.

Logen Bourque Named Second Team Southland All-Academic
Texas A&M – Corpus Christi volleyball player Logen Bourque was recognized this past week with a Second Team All-Academic honor by the Southland Conference. Bourque is the first Islanders volleyball player to earn all-academic honors since Beth Fionda did so in 2008.

Islanders Volleyball Signs Three in Early Signing Period
The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi volleyball team continued to add talent this fall, signing three players to National Letters of Intent (NLI) during the NCAA’s fall signing period. Ivy Baresh (Martin HS/Arlington), Courtney Hall (Westwood HS/Austin) and Haley Satterwhite (Clear Lake/Houston) will be a part of the 2012 team that looks to continue improving under the tutelage of head coach Tony Graystone.

The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi Volleyball Team will be back on the road for their second-to-last away match of the year on Thursday when they face the Stephen F. Islanders Unable to Take Ladyjacks Down as Nolan Sets Career Mark
NACOGDOCHES – The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi Islanders Volleyball Team was unable to overcome an early deficit against the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks, falling 3-1 (25-23, 23-25, 25-19, 25-18) in a Southland Conference road match on Thursday night. Micah Nolan set a new Islanders record for digs in a career with 19 digs on the night, giving her a total of 1,063 in her two seasons. She also has 574 digs this season, moving her into a tie for the all-time single-season record.

NATCHITOCHES, La. – Logen Bourque etched her name into the Texas A&M – Corpus Christi Volleyball record book on Saturday as the Islanders defeated the Northwestern State Lady Demons by a 3-2 (22-25, 25-23, 25-19, 22-25, 15-10) final in a pivotal Southland Conference road match. The win moves the team into a tie for seventh place in the league standings, with the top eight teams going to the Southland Conference Tournament.

VALPARAISO, Ind. – The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi volleyball team lost a pair of tough matches in the final day of the Marriott Volley Brawl hosted by Valparaiso. The Islanders lost a 3-1 (25-14, 26-28, 25-12, 25-20) final to Valparaiso in the early match, while dropping a 3-0 (25-23, 25-21, 25-17) final against Ball State to complete play in the tournament. Senior Jessica Korda was named to the all-tournament team after posting 31 kills, 24 digs and seven total blocks in the four-match weekend.

HUNTSVILLE, Texas – The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi volleyball team picked up a closely-contested victory on Saturday morning by a 3-1 (34-36, 25-16, 25-17, 25-22) over Texas – Pan American in the second day of the Bearkat Volleyball Invitational. The team is set to face host-team Sam Houston State at 2 p.m. to close out tournament play. The 109 points scored by the Islanders in the match is the third-highest total in NCAA history for a four-set match with the 25-point scoring format.
