The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi women's tennis team will be making history on Saturday at 2 p.m. when they host the Rice Owls. It will be the first-ever dual match at the Thomas J. Henry Tennis Center, the new state-of-the-art facility for Islanders Tennis.
The team will come into the match at 1-0, fresh off of a 7-0 victory over an improved Prairie View A&M squad in Houston on Thursday. They will face the No. 70 Rice Owls in a match that will test the Islanders early in the year against one of the top teams in the nation.
The Owls are currently 2-0 on the year, with 7-0 wins coming over both Lamar and Louisiana – Lafayette to start the season. It will be the first road contest for Rice this campaign.
Texas A&M – Corpus Christi will also try to set a new single-match attendance record in the first match at the Thomas J. Henry Tennis Center. Admission is free to the event and fans are encouraged to show up early and cheer on the Islanders against Rice in this historic event.
