CORPUS CHRISTI – Head Coach Shanna Caldwell and players Yvette Franco and Jessica Berdan spoke with GoIslanders.com following the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi soccer team's practice Wednesday morning. The Islanders discussed the team's exhibition against Texas last Friday, the upcoming season opener and the locker room at the Dugan Family Soccer & Track Stadium.
The Islanders locker room is complete with couches, whiteboards and a big-screen television for the players to have a place to relax between classes, as well as before and after practice. The couches and chairs in the locker room and coaches offices were generously provided via a new partnership with Ashley Furniture Homestore, while the flat screen televisions and installation were made available by established corporate partner Marco Electronics.
The Islanders and Houston will do battle Friday, Aug. 23, at Dugan Stadium in the inaugural regular-season game in program history. Immediately preceding the contest will be the grand opening ceremony for the facility, featuring University President Dr. Flavius Killebrew and the stadium's primary benefactor, Dr. Jack Dugan. The ceremony will start at 4:55 p.m. with the match slated to begin immediately afterward at 5 p.m.
