HUNTSVILLE, Texas – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's golf team shot 303 in both the first and second rounds to sit in sixth place after one day of the Harold Funston Invitational, hosted by Sam Houston State. Lamar holds the team lead with a 581 (293-288) through 36 holes.
Vanessa Johnson (74-73—147) sits in a tie for eighth individually after two rounds, while Lindsay Biehler (72-76—148) is just a stroke back in a tie for 11th. Krista Fenniak (78-76—154, T-29th), Ana Paredes (79-78—157, T-34th) and Claudia Galindo (82-88-170, 49th) rounded out the scoring for the Islanders.
Lamar's Ghni Ngo leads tournament individuals with a 141 (71-70) through the first two rounds, while teammate Wenny Chang and Incarnate Word's Jamie Bibby are tied for second at 142. Host SHSU had the most consistent day, with all five players finishing in the top 15, and sits three shots back of the Cardinals in second place. UIW is third at 591 through the opening 36 holes.
