CORPUS CHRISTI – Throughout the summer of 2013, will look back at the best moments and athletic performances from the 2012-13 school year.

Every Thursday, we will bring you one of the top 10 individual performances, with Tuesdays bringing the year's top 10 moments. Be sure to keep tabs on throughout the summer to celebrate all the great moments.

In a season that was filled with plenty of ups and downs, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's golf team had a record-setting year. On the season, the team posted five of its top 10 rounds in school history, including a school-record 292 in the first round of the 2013 Southland Championship.

But it was an event in the fall portion of the season that was the top highlight for the women's golf team. Led by Vanessa Johnson's medalist performance, the Islanders took a second-place finish at the Harold Funston Invitational with three rounds of 298 or better at the event.

In the first round, the Islanders delivered a 298, led by Johnson's record-tying 69, to sit in third place at the event. The round was just one shot off the school-record 297, set in 2002 and matched in 2007 and 2011.

The second round was even better, as Johnson and Krista Fenniak each shot even par to allow Texas A&M-Corpus Christi to cut two shots off its team score, setting a new school mark with a 296. In the final round, they did one better, delivering a 295 to finish in second place with yet another school record.

The Islanders placed two individuals in the top three, with Fenniak finishing third in addition to Johnson's title. Nikki Dunn tied for 13th at the event, as the Islanders were one of only two schools to place three players in the top 15.
