Women's Golf Heads to Frisco for Southland Championship

FRISCO, Texas – The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi women's golf team heads to north Texas in search of its second league title, as the 12th annual Southland Conference Women's Golf Championship tees off on Monday, April 15. The Championship will be held at the recently renovated Frisco Lakes Golf Club, which is set up for a par-72 and for a length of 5,977 yards.

This will mark the first season that the championship is held at a true neutral site. Along with the Islanders' championship in 2009, Lamar (three) and Sam Houston State (two) have also taken Southland titles among the seven teams in the field. Oral Roberts will be competing in its first conference tournament since entering the Southland, while Central Arkansas, Stephen F. Austin and McNeese State will also be in the seven-team field.

The Islanders will be paired with Stephen F. Austin in the opening round, which starts at 8 a.m. on Monday. Lindsay Biehler will be the first to tee off at 8, followed by Krista Fenniak (8:08), Vanessa Johnson (8:16), Taylor Slagle (8:24) and Nikki Dunn (8:32). McNeese State and UCA will be in the next set of teams, teeing off from 8:40-9:12, while the final trio will consist of ORU, SHSU and Lamar, teeing off from 9:20-9:52.

The tournament will consist of one round each day from Monday-Wednesday, with each round starting at 8 a.m. Tee times will be re-formatted following each round based on each team's scores.
