TULSA, Okla. – The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi golf team returns to the links on Monday, Oct. 1, when it commences the ORU Shootout, presented by Bob Hurley Auto Family. The 13-team event will be held at Meadowbrook Country Club (par-72, 6,212 yards) on Monday and Tuesday.
Both Monday's and Tuesday's action will commence with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start, with 36 holes scheduled for Monday and the final 18 on Tuesday. The event will feature five of the other six teams in the Southland Conference, the lone exception being Central Arkansas. Lamar, Sam Houston State, Stephen F. Austin, McNeese State and host Oral Roberts are all part of the field along with the Islanders.
The remainder of the field is comprised of Arkansas State, Drake, future Southland foe Houston Baptist, McLennan Community College, Southern Utah, UTEP and UT-Pan American. Arkansas State is the top returning team from last year's event, as the Red Wolves finished second a year ago. The Islanders placed ninth as a team in 2011, led by Nikki Dunn's 10th-place finish.
Texas A&M – Corpus Christi will utilize the same lineup as it did for the season-opening Oregon State Invitational. Dunn will be joined by fellow senior Taylor Slagle, juniors Lindsay Biehler and Krista Fenniak and sophomore Vanessa Johnson. Dunn, Johnson and Biehler each posted a 231, while Fenniak was just one stroke behind, in Corvallis on Sept. 17-18.
