Top Performance #4 - Ryann White rallies for Top-3 Finish at SLC Championship

Rising senior Ryann White had an outstanding year for the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi golf team. Her impressive performances garnered her several honors, being named to the Southland Conference All-Academic Team and Second Team All-Southland.

But it was April 20 where White's ability stood out the most, as she shot the only round under par in the Southland Conference Women's Golf Championship. The seasoned veteran showed her skill and determination by leading the way in the Islanders' fourth-place finish.

Despite White's discouraging start to the Championship in her opening round, her second day performance made up for it. Opening with seven straight pars and then notching a birdie on the par-3 eighth, she finished the front nine one under. Bogeys on 10 and 13 pushed her over par for the only time on the day, but she rallied with birdies on the par-3 14th and par-5 15th. A bogey on 17 put her even for the day, as she notched one of just three 72s by the field.

The Lubbock native's determination showed when she shot a 71 in the third round for the only sub-par round of the three-day tournament. She was one-over on the front nine, posting three bogeys and two birdies, then rallied on the back nine. A birdie on the 11th was countered by a bogey on 13, but birdies on 15 and 16 dropped her under par for the day.

White led the Islanders with a 75.93 stroke average in her nine tournaments during the school year, posting five top-10 finishes individually. In addition to her finish at the conference tourney, she twice finished fourth, once at the Islander Classic and again at the UALR Women's Golf Classic. She was named Southland Golfer of the Month for March, as she took 10th at the elite Rio Verde Invitational and fourth at UALR. The junior had 14 rounds of 75 or lower out of her 27 total rounds.
