Golf finishes opening day at ORU Shootout

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. - Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's golf team completed the first day of the Bob Hurley Auto ORU Shootout. Ryann White led the Islanders for the second straight fall tournament as they posted a two-round team score of 654 at the Meadowbrook Golf Club.

White had a first round score of 77 and finished round two with a 76 for A&M-Corpus Christi. She is tied for 11th place after Monday's opening day.

Lindsay Biehler carded a 166 while Katie Belser shot 167 on day one. Nikki Dunn finished with a two-round score of 168.

Cristina Reynoso rounded out the Islanders line-up with a score of 179. After the first day of competition the team is in 13th place.

"The course played hard today and our inexperience showed," said head coach Carol Blackmar "Ryann played steady while our freshman struggled a little bit today."

"We'll have a lot to work on in the next week before the next tournament."

The team will conclude the ORU Shootout with 18 holes on Tuesday at the Meadowbrook Golf Club.
