Zoe Vega-Vega Named GoIslanders.com Student-Athlete of the Week
CORPUS CHRISTI – Texas A&M - Corpus Christi women's basketball player Zoe Vega-Vega has been named the GoIslanders.com Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by Pepsi. Vega-Vega earned the award following her performance last week in the Islanders two home conference games.
Senior Zoe Vega-Vega powered the Islanders offense on Saturday night against Southeastern Louisiana en route to their first conference win of the season and their first conference win since March, 6, 2010. She scored a career-high 15 points, including 3-of-4 from the charity stripe.
The Humacao, Puerto Rico native also pulled down a career-high 15 rebounds, dished out two assists and tallied one steal in a career-best 34 minutes. Through three conference games, Vega-Vega is averaging 10.0 points per game, 10.0 rebounds in 23.3 minutes per game.
Vega-Vega and the women's basketball will take on UT Arlington tonight on the road in Southland Conference action. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m.
