Student-Athletes Volunteer at Annual Halloween Carnival

CORPUS CHRISTI – Student-athletes from the Texas A&M – Corpus Christi softball, women's basketball, tennis, cross country and track and field teams volunteered at the Boys and Girls Club Thursday night at the annual free Halloween Carnival event.

The volunteer effort was organized by the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and student-athletes passed out candy to around 500 children and worked carnival games, such as "shoot the pumpkin," "bowl the ghost," "toss the pumpkin," and "pop the ghost."

"The SAAC members and student-athletes who volunteer always get so excited for this particular event," SAAC co-advisor Kayleigh McCauley said. "It's great to see all of the kids dressed up in their costumes, having fun with their friends and families. They look up to the Islanders and it's great to see our student-athletes out in the community doing something positive."

Women's basketball player Imani Dunn is the community service chair for SAAC, while tennis players Matt Westmoreland, Mirna Cicak and Cassie Shaw served as the Boys and Girls Club Halloween Carnival sub-committee members.
