The Texas A&M - Corpus Christi women's basketball team will be hosting its annual Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Pink Zone game on Saturday, Feb. 12, at 7 p.m. as part of the national program to promote breast cancer awareness and research.
In recognition of the event, the Islanders will be wearing pink uniforms in their game against the Sam Houston State Bearkats on Saturday night. It will be the second-straight year that the team has donned special uniforms in the game.
The Pink Zone initiative runs Feb. 11-20 with hundreds of schools holding events throughout the nation to help raise awareness about breast cancer and to help cancer research by collecting donations at the events.
The WBCA officially began the Pink Zone event in 2007 and has collected over $3 million since its inception.
Groups of 10-or-more that purchase tickets to the event will receive a rate of $4 per ticket with half of that going towards breast cancer research.
Come out and watch the Islanders women's basketball team and help support breast cancer awareness at the same time at 7 p.m. on Saturday night.
