Women's basketball begins two-game Louisiana road trip against Nicholls on Wednesday night
The Texas A&M - Corpus Christi women's basketball team will begin its two-game Louisiana road trip that crosses the state with a 6:30 p.m. road game against the Nicholls Colonels on Wednesday night. Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m. in Stopher Gym on the Nicholls campus.
The Islanders come into the contest with a record of 2-18 overall and are 0-7 in Southland Conference play. The Colonels are 6-14 on the year with a 1-6 mark in league contests.
Texas A&M - Corpus Christi is coming off of a 90-64 loss to Stephen F. Austin while Nicholls lost a 79-62 game to the Lamar Cardinals.
Adrienne Scott continues to lead the team in scoring and is ranked 11th in the conference at 13.4 points per game. Anitra Jeffery and Scott are ranked sixth and seventh in the league in rebounding as both average 7.9 rebounds per game this season.
Ricshanda Bickham is ranked sixth in the Southland in scoring while averaging 14.6 points per game. She is one of four Colonels players averaging double-digits as KK Babin scored 12.5 a night, Alisha Allen scores 11.8 per game and Sumar Leslie rounds out the group at 11.5 points every time out. Allen is tops on the team in rebounding with 5.8 per game.
In the only meeting between the two teams last season the Colonels stunned the Islanders by a 61-58 final, knocking Texas A&M - Corpus Christi out of first place in the league standings while picking up their first Southland win of the season. The all-time series stands at 3-1 in favor of the Islanders.
