Women's basketball travels to Houston for showdown with Cougars

The Texas A&M - Corpus Christi women's basketball team will look to snap it's six-game losing streak on Sunday when they travel to Houston to take on the Cougars in a 2:00 p.m. game at the Hofheinz Pavilion. The Islanders are 0-6 to start the season while UH is an undefeated 4-0 to start the year.

Lauren Smith leads the team in scoring at 12.2 points per game while Jessica Jammer is second with 8.5 per contest. Anitra Jeffery leads the team in rebounding at 10.3 a game while coming in third in scoring at 8.3 a night. Smith also leads the team in assists with 3.0 per game while Ashley Darley is tops on the team in steals with 10 this season.

The Cougars have four players scoring in double figures, led by Courtney Taylor with a 19.5 scoring average. Porsche Landry is close behind at 18.5 while Brittney Scott scores 16.5 per contest and Lesslee Mason rounds out the group with 11.8 points per game.

The two teams met last year, with the Islanders taking an 81-76 win over the Cougars at the American Bank Center. It was the first-ever win in the series for Texas A&M - Corpus Christi with the team now 1-4 all-time against UH.
