Islanders travel to Rocky Mountain Invitational in search of first win

The Texas A&M - Corpus Christi women's basketball team will be looking to get into the win column for the first time this season when they travel to Fort Collins, Colo. for the Coors Rocky Mountain Invitational hosted by Colorado State.

In the first game of the tournament, the Islanders will face the Boise State Broncos in a 1:00 p.m. game on Saturday. On Sunday, they will take on the host Rams at 3:30 p.m. to close out the weekend.

Texas A&M - Corpus Christi is currently 0-4 on the year after losing its last game against Texas - Pan American on Saturday, Nov. 20 in Edinburg, Texas.

The will be led into the game by Anitra Jeffery, who is leading the team in both scoring and rebounding. She is averaging 11.0 points per game while also leading the Southland Conference with a 12.3 rebounds per game average. Lauren Smith is tied for the team scoring lead with 11.0 points a contest as well and is second on the team with 5.3 rebounds per game. Jeffery also has a team-high six blocks on the year while Jessica Jammer leads the Islanders with eight steals through four games.

The Broncos are 3-2 overall on the year after losing an 82065 game against Pepperdine on Tuesday. They are led in scoring by Kati Isham at 12.4 points per game while Julia Marshall follows close behind with 12.2 a contest. Janie Bos is the top rebounder on the team with an 8.0 per game average while Isham is also tops on the team with 14 assists and six steals through five games.

It will be the first meeting between the Islanders and the Broncos on Saturday. Texas A&M - Corpus Christi has only faced the Rams one time in program history, a 70-58 win at home in Corpus Christi last season.
