DEZIREE GREEN NAMED TO SOUTHLAND ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM FOR THIRD TIME
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi senior guard Deziree Green received another academic accolade on Tuesday when she was named to the Southland All-Academic First Team for the third time in her career. She is the first Islander to be named to the team three times in her career.
Green, a 5-10 senior from Houston recently finished her Islander career by helping her team to its most successful season in school history. The Islanders won a school-record 25 games and reached the semifinals of the Women's Basketball Invitational.
Green averaged 7.8 points per game and 7.0 rebounds per contest during the season.She finished the season fifth on the team in scoring and second in rebounds.
In addition to her Southland honors, Green has also been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Region VI Second Team twice in her career. She currently holds a 3.5 GPA in Kinesiology and has excelled in the classroom throughout her Islander career.
