ISLANDERS TO HOLD "GO BLUE FOR TWO" NIGHT AGAINST LAMAR

Get out your blue and bring $2 next Wednesday night (March 3) at 7 p.m. as the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi athletic department looks to break the all-time attendance record for a women's game at the American Bank Center while battling Lamar for supremacy in the Southland Conference as the Southland Conference Television Network "Wildcard" game.

The Islanders will be out to break the attendance mark of 4,510 fans set when the Islanders hosted Fresno State in the first round of the WNIT on March 18, 2005.

"'Go Blue For Two' is the order of the day for our final regular season game versus Lamar," said Director of Athletics Tim Fitzpatrick. "This is a great opportunity to shine the spotlight on the Islander women's basketball program, as we try to set a new single game attendance record. We want everyone to support the Islanders by wearing blue to the game, and to take advantage of the fact that all tickets will be $2 - both in advance and at the door on game night."

It will mark the first time the Islander women have appeared on television and will be the final home game for this year's five seniors. Elisa Beagle, Deziree Green, Shaye Montgomery, LaToya Thomas and Diandra Torres will each be making their final appearance of the regular season on Stripes Court.

Entering this week's action, the Islander women stand a game behind Lamar for the best record in the Southland Conference. The Islanders are 9-3, while Lamar is 10-2 and in first-place in the West Division. Each team has two games remaining prior to meeting next Wednesday.

"This is a great thing for our kids, this is the first time we'll have a TV game since we've been in the Southland," said head coach Robert Robinson. "If things shape up the way it looks like they will, it should be a battle for first place and what a great game it will be."

Added Fitzpatrick, "Our team has had a great season and is in the hunt for the Southland Conference regular-season championship - help us honor our outgoing senior class in their final home game, with a loud, record-setting crowd decked out in Islander blue. Let's make this a night we will all remember!"

The $2 tickets will be available at the American Bank Center ticket office and the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi ticket office. For more information, contact the Islander ticket office at (361) 825-2255.
