ISLANDERS RETURN HOME LOOKING TO REBOUND AGAINST MCNEESE STATE

The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's basketball team will look to bounce back at the American Bank Center after a tough road loss to UTSA on Wednesday night. The Islanders will be playing Eastern Division opponent McNeese State in an important Southland Conference game for TAMUCC on Stripes Court.

The Islanders sit at 16-8 on the season and 8-3 in Southland Conference games while McNeese State comes into the game with a 6-18 season record and 2-9 Southland record. The Islanders fell to UTSA by a 58-37 score in their last game while the Cowgirls lost a 69-52 contest to Northwestern State. The Cowgirls loss to the Lady Demons meant that the Islanders clinched a spot in the 2010 Southland Conference Tournament.

Elisa Beagle was the lone bright spot against UTSA, recording a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. She upped her scoring average to 8.6 per game to move into third on the team. Jade Davis continues to lead the team, scoring 14.2 points per game.

The Cowgirls are led in scoring by Kiara Johnson at 13.7 points per game while Kendra Wells (12.8) and Candace LaCombe (10.5) also are averaging double digit scoring. Wells leads the team in rebounding with 7.8 per game while Johnson is second with 7.5 per game.
