The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's basketball team will take to the road this Saturday first its first away game of the season when they travel to take on the Texas Southern Tigers. The game is set for a 2 PM start in Houston on the Texas Southern campus.

The Islanders will come into the game led by Jade Davis, the reigning Southland Conference Player of the Week and the top scorer after two games into the season. Davis is averaging 19.5 points per game after a 29-point outburst against the Alabama Crimson Tide in a 96-90 overtime win.

It was the championship game of the Holiday Inn Emerald Beach Tip-Off Tournament, giving the Islanders the tournament win and the program's first-ever win over a Southeastern Conference (SEC) opponent. The Islanders are now 1-0 against Alabama and 1-4 overall against the SEC.

The tournament also marked the return of senior center Elisa Beagle after missing the 2008-09 season with an injury. Beagle made an instant impact, scoring 16 points in the first game against Air Force while grabbing five rebounds. In the game against Alabama, Beagle had a team-high 11 rebounds on the afternoon.

The Tigers come into the game with a 1-1 record after a loss to Louisiana-Lafayette and a win over Texas-Pan American. The two games were close as ULL beat TSU 64-57 last Saturday and TSU beat the UTPA 65-58 this past Wednesday. The leading scorer for the Tigers is NaDosha Strickland at 16.0 points per game while Inisha Daughtry averages 14.0 and Jasmine Payne averages 12.5 as the other team members averaging double figure scoring.

Yannis Koutroupis will call the action on ESPN 1230 AM as the Islanders go for their first 3-0 start since the 2004-05 season.
