ISLANDER WOMEN'S BASKETBALL CAMP A CLEAR SUCCESS
In just the second day of the week, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's basketball camp is a definite success in the eyes of assistant coach and camp director Geoff Grawn. Tasked with getting the kids there and making sure things run smoothly, Grawn came at it with a new mindset this year that focused on increasing the number of attendees.

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi senior guard Deziree Green received another academic accolade on Tuesday when she was #$%^named to the Southland All-Academic First Team for the third time in her career. She is the first Islander to be named to the team #$%^three times in her career.

The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's basketball team trailed by as many as 13 points with just 6:38 on the clock but used a 16-2 run to end the game that gave them their school-record 24th win of the year with a 59-58 win over the Washington Huskies.

ISLANDERS HOST HUSKIES AT DUGAN WELLNESS CENTER IN WBI SECOND ROUND
The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's basketball team will take on the Washington Huskies out of the Pac 10 Conference in the second round of the WBI in the third home game this year at the Dugan Wellness Center at 4 PM. The Islanders are 2-0 in the building this season, beating Incarnate Word by a 62-51 score and downing UTSA by a 52-48 final in a Southland Conference game.

ISLANDERS SURVIVE OVERTIME TO WIN WBI OPENER AGAINST ROADRUNNERS
The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's basketball team withstood a huge individual effort to pick up its second-ever postseason win by a 97-89 score in overtime against Cal State-Bakersfield on Wednesday night. The Islanders won their opening round game in the Women's Basketball Invitational as Jade Davis scored 30 while CSUB's Phynique Allen scored a record-tying 36 points against the Islanders in an explosive offensive contest on Stripes Court.

Katy - The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's basketball team had the type of second-half performance that made them one of the top teams in the Southland Conference, dominating the Sam Houston State Bearkats by a 99-79 final in the opening round of the Southland Conference Tournament. The Islanders used a tremendous second half performance to make it to the second round of the tournament in 3-of-4 years as a member of the conference.

The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's basketball team got a huge win on senior night at the American Bank Center while setting a new regular season attendance record with their 'Go Blue For $2' promotion. The Islanders won a 79-64 game over the league-leading Lady Cardinals in front of 3,819 fans, second only to the 4,510 record set in 2005 against Fresno State in a postseason WNIT game.

The Islanders came back from an 18 percent shooting first half to outscore the Bobcats by 15 points in the second half and pick up the season sweep. It was the first time in program history that TAMUCC has beaten Texas State twice in a season.

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's basketball player Deziree Green was named to the CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine's Academic All-District VI Second Team on Thursday, marking the second time she has been named to the second team in her career. She received the honor during the 2007-08 season as well.

Jade Davis, who helped lead the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's basketball team to a 2-0 start and its first-ever victory over an SEC opponent, was named the Southland Conference Player of the Week on Monday afternoon. It is the first award of the season and is also Davis' first Player of the Week honor in her career.

On Saturday night at the American Bank Center, the Islander women's basketball program did something it had never done before, beat a Southeastern Conference opponent. TAMUCC beat the Alabama Crimson Tide by a 96-90 final in overtime to improve to 2-0 on the season.

ISLANDER WOMENS BASKETBALL COMPLETES 2009-10 SCHEDULE
A new season of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's basketball is set for what shapes up to be a veteran team and will feature several prominent teams, including three teams that made it to the NCAA Tournament and one from the Women's NIT. The Islanders host six homes games before the start of the Southland Conference schedule and will have 14 total home games this season.
