Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's basketball players Jade Davis and Shaye Montgomery have been named to the All-Southland Conference teams. Davis, a sophomore guard from West Columbia was named to the third team while Montgomery, a junior guard from Baytown was named All-SLC Honorable Mention. It is the first SLC award for either player.

Davis emerged during the year as the top scoring threat for the Islanders, scoring 12.8 points per game to go along with 2.9 rebounds per game. Davis scored a career-high 33 points in a game against Southeastern La. on Feb. 25 of this season. She scored 15 or more points 11 times during the season.

Montgomery came on strong late in the season, averaging 15.1 points per game over the last 11 contests. For the season, she averaged 10.1 points and 3.9 rebounds per game while also handing out 1.25 assists per game, tops of the Islanders team. Montgomery scored 15 or more points seven different times this season.

The two All-SLC picks now lead their team to the 2009 State Farm Southland Conference Basketball Tournament in Katy. The team will play UT Arlington in the opening round at 6 PM on Wednesday, March 11 at the Merrell Center.
