The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's basketball team will play its second game of the Southland Conference schedule against Texas State in San Marcos on Wednesday night.
The game will be the 10th consecutive away from home for the Islanders, as they look to close out their longest road trip with another conference victory. Last time out, the Islanders took on and beat Central Arkansas by a 52-50 score in the opening game of SLC action to move to 5-8 on the year, 1-0 in SLC play.
Leading the Islanders into the game is Jade Davis with an average of 12.2 points per game and 3.5 rebounds per game. Myeisha Myles is the second-leading scorer with 9.5 points per game while pulling in a team high 7.1 rebounds per game.
Texas State comes into the game with a record of 6-7 on the year and an 0-1 SLC record. Last time out, the Bobcats lost a 67-53 contest to UT Arlington to open conference play.
The Bobcats are led in scoring by Ashley Cole with a 10.5 points per game average.
The meeting between the Islanders and the Bobcats will be the first since eighth-seeded TAMUCC knocked out the first-seeded Texas State in the Southland Conference tournament last spring. After securing the final spot in the tournament, the Islanders made the most of their oppurtunity, advancing to the semifinals before finally being knocked out. The first win in the tournament was a 106-88 victory for the Islanders over the Bobcats. The 106 points scored by the Islanders set a new conference tournament record for most in a game. The Bobcats hold the all-time series lead with a 5-3 advantage.
The game is scheduled for a 7 PM start and will be broadcast on 1150 AM KCCT with the call by Matt Hicks.
