Westmoreland, McKinney to Represent Islanders at NCAA Leadership Forum
CORPUS CHRISTI – Texas A&M – Corpus
Christi tennis player Matt Westmoreland and softball player Meagan
McKinney have been chosen to attend the NCAA Student-Athlete
Leadership Forum on Nov. 1-4 in Dallas. The duo will represent the
Island University along with Senior Scholastic Coordinator Kayleigh
McCauley.
"This is a wonderful opportunity for Meagan and Matt," McCauley said. "Having representatives from among our student-athlete population at the forum will be a major asset for the Islanders and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. I think they will bring back some great lessons for all of our student-athletes."
The Leadership Forum engages a diverse and dynamic representation of student-athletes, coaches, faculty and administrators and provides pertinent and customized sessions that will enhance personal awareness and leadership skills needed to impact student-athlete development at the campus and conference level, and beyond the collegiate realm.
In 2002, the NCAA began regionally based Leadership Conferences
for Division I, II and III student-athletes, coaches and
administrators. Division I, II and III student-athletes, coaches
and administrators met regionally to discuss issues and information
impacting the student-athlete experience. Since the fall of
2010, the NCAA Student-Athlete Leadership Forum (Leadership Forum)
has combined Divisions I, II and III participants into a single
forum at one site on the same weekend.
