Hello Islander fans!
Wow, it has been a busy couple of weeks since conference play started. Our games vs. Texas State were rescheduled due to weather. We traveled to Louisiana to play Northwestern, then we played Texas State when we returned, and now we are in Arlington, Texas! Somewhere in there was Spring Break! So far we have battled each team and sit 3-3 in conference play. We split with everyone we have played. We are hoping this weekend to break that streak against UT Arlington.
We arrived yesterday and have already had a busy day! The team was able to take a tour of the ballpark in Arlington, home of the TEXAS RANGERS! It was an unbelievable experience! We learned some good history of the sport, we were able to be in the press box, and we even got to sit in the dugout on the same bench where Josh Hamilton and Ian Kinsler sit! It's a little bit of a bummer that we won't be able to see a game since the team is still at spring training in Arizona, but you could say we got the next best thing! I know some of us are already making plans to make it back to the area to see a game!!
More importantly, we are back at the hotel resting up for tonight! We will leave for the field in a bit for pregame. The last game the Islanders played on this field vs. UTA was the defining game of the season. Whoever won it would be the Southland Conference Champions! Thankfully, we took the game and earned ourselves the rings! I know this field will bring back a lot of emotions for the returners, but we are looking forward to creating new memories here tonight - returners and newbies!
It will be a fun night! Thanks for keeping up!
