Islanders Tennis Update: Islanders No. 9 Nationally in Attendance for Second Year in a Row

Islanders No. 9 Nationally in Attendance for Second Year in a Row

Abilene Christian Match Moved to Tuesday at 10 a.m.

For the second year in a row we have ranked in the top 10 nationally in attendance. This is an incredibly special tennis community - the best in the country in my opinion. Tennis Magazine ranked Corpus Christi one of the best tennis cities in America for 15 years in a row, but what is really special is the close relationship and bond that has been formed between this community and the Islanders Tennis teams. The crowds encourage us to fight harder and they make a huge difference at our matches. The appreciation from the players make us even want to fight harder for these crowds. To be recognized in the top 10 nationally means a lot to this team and this university. We are trying very hard and rankings like this validate this hard work.

The Abilene Christian match originally scheduled for today at the Thomas J. Henry Tennis Center has been moved to Tuesday, March 11, at 10 a.m. due to the weather. It’s the first Southland Conference match for the women’s team.

The men’s team stands at 11-6 and the women’s team holds a 6-2 record. We are now entering the conference faze of the season, as each conference battles for a conference title and an automatic birth to the NCAA Team Championships. This is the strongest the conference has ever been since I have been here in the last eight years, so we have a lot of tough battles ahead and a lot of hard work to do.

Please know the support at our tennis matches means the world to our teams.

Thank you for your continued support of Islanders Tennis!
