The singles matches will start at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday while the doubles portion of the tournament will be played at 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. The finals are set for Sunday at 9 a.m. and 12 p.m.
"We want to give a special thanks to Marco and Cathy Mattolini for their generous sponsorship that makes this event possible," Moore added. "They have been incredible supporters of Islanders Tennis and we are very grateful for their generosity. Marco and Company Catering is located on 525 S. Staples St. We would also like to thank HEB Tennis Center and the Corpus Christi Athletic Club for their generous support of this event."
Last season, the Islanders swept both the singles titles of the open with Peter Nagy securing a 6-3, 6-4 victory over now senior Matt Westmoreland and Maider Martin captured a super tiebreaker over the 2011 champion and now senior Stefania Nicolae. Texas A&M - Corpus Christi has had six-of-seven champions in the men's bracket since the inception of the tournament.
This season the Islanders welcome three newcomers to a men's team that tallied a 17-8 overall record last season and advanced to the NCAA Championships for the fourth time in the last six years. Last season the Islanders clinched their sixth straight Southland Conference Championship in the regular season and won the Southland Conference Tournament for the fourth time. The team was ranked in the top 60 Division I national ranking for the seventh consecutive season.
The women's team returns eight from a 2012-13 team that earned the best finish in school history both for the regular season and conference tournament, along with setting a school record with 17 wins. The Islanders also made history when they broke into the ITA rankings top 75 at No. 60 for the first time in program history. The Islanders advanced to the finals of the SLC tournament while finishing second in the regular season. Over the last two seasons, the team has tallied a 33-9 overall record.
Both the men's and women's teams were ranked in the top 10 in NCAA Division I national attendance and were both ranked in the top 60 in the ITA rankings.
