After a successful third-place showing in the 46th Annual HEB Tournament of Champions that featured several of the top teams in the nation, the Texas A&M – Corpus Christi men's tennis team will face off against nationally ranked South Alabama at the Thomas J. Henry Tennis Center.
The Islanders are now 7-7 on the season after a pair of wins over two nationally ranked teams in Middle Tennessee and Oklahoma State in the HEB Tournament of Champions. The win over OSU gave the team a third-place finish in one of the most prestigious, and longest running, team tournaments in the nation. South Alabama comes into the match with a 7-3 record after also going 2-1 at the HEB.
Texas A&M – Corpus Christi is coming off of a 4-3 win over Oklahoma State on Saturday to take third-place in the HEB Tournament of Champions. Aurelien Tave, Fernando Llorens, Pietro Jordao and Alex Pavlov each won their match to give their team the victory.
On Friday, they picked up a 4-1 win over Middle Tennessee in the opening round of the tournament. They then moved on to face the highest ranked team in the event in New Mexico. The Islanders played tough, but came up short in a 4-1 loss to the Lobos.
The match against South Alabama is scheduled for a 5 p.m. start at the Thomas J. Henry Tennis Center. Admission is free to the public, and fans are encouraged to come out and see some of the best collegiate tennis teams in the nation square off in a dual match.
