In a change of schedule the nationally-ranked Texas A&M – Corpus Christi men's tennis team will play a doubleheader on Thursday afternoon against St. Mary's (TX) in San Antonio as a final tune-up before the home opener against No. 14 Texas on Sunday afternoon. The matches against the Rattlers were originally scheduled for later in the season before being moved up to this week.
The Islanders are currently 2-3 on the season, and will play their seventh-straight road match of the year on Thursday before opening the Thomas J. Henry Tennis Center with the first ever men's home match on Sunday at 2 p.m. against the Texas Longhorns. It will be the first of the year for St. Mary's, having yet to play a game either at home or on the road.
Freshman Peter Nagy and senior Aurelien Tave will lead Texas A&M – Corpus Christi into the twin bill against the Rattlers, with the Islanders looking to pick up a pair of wins against a tough St. Mary's team on their home court.
Following the pair of matches before the weekend, the team will return home for a historic day in Islanders Tennis history. The Thomas J. Henry Tennis Center will play host to the men's team for the first time in school history, with the women hosting their opener the facility on Jan. 28 against nationally ranked Rice.
