Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's tennis player Laurent Montoisy has been named to the Southland Conference Men's Tennis All-Academic team, one of just six players in the conference to receive the honor. Montoisy was also named to the first-team of the All-SLC team at the conclusion of the regular season.
After finishing the season with a team-best 15-5 record, Montoisy was named the team MVP as well as garnering recognition from the conference as both the first-team member at No. 3 singles and at No. 2 doubles while teaming up with Jose Zunino.
Montoisy is a Business major that currently holds a 3.16 cumulative grade point average. The sophomore from Lasne, Belgium has been highly decorated in his time on the Island. He was named the SLC Freshman of the Year last season and was the runner-up for the SLC Player of the Year. He played the No. 1 position and was named to the second-team All-SLC last season behind Filip Kanczula who was also named the player of the year.
Montoisy was also named the Southland Player of the Week twice this season, the first time on January 27 of this season and again on April 21 following the final regular season match. He helped the Islanders complete back-to-back undefeated seasons in SLC play as well as clinching their second straight SLC Tournament Championship.
