The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men and women's tennis teams are in the process of preparing for the upcoming Southland Conference Tennis Tournaments that start on Friday at the HEB Tennis Center.

The Islander men are back in action on Saturday after receiving a first-round bye for finishing as the regular season champions. The first match for TAMUCC will be 9:30 AM against the winner of the match between No. 4 seed Southeastern Louisiana and No. 5 seed UT Arlington on Friday morning.

On the women's side of the tournament, the Islanders come into the weekend as the No. 7 seed and will face off against the No. 2 Lamar Cardinals on Friday at 12:00 PM. The Islanders played in Beaumont on the home court of Lamar during the last week of the season, narrowly falling by a 4-3 score. With the Cardinals on the home court of the Islanders this weekend, TAMUCC will look to turn the tables on Lamar and pick up a first-round victory.

It is the first time in the programs history that the women's team has qualified for the post-season conference tournament. While the Islanders are much improved, they are looking to take it to the next level this weekend with the home-court advantage in their favor.

Matches begin at 9:30 AM on Friday and continue throughout the day at the HEB Tennis Center located at 1520 Shely Street. For more information such as directions, full match schedules and ticket prices, visit
