Included in that total were 14 Islanders who earned a 4.0 GPA during the spring.

Wang, a business major with a 3.15 GPA, is the first Islanders player to earn academic all-conference distinction since Matt Slatnick was a second-team selection in 2007.

For every field goal the Islanders score, money will be raised to help support the One Hundred Club Scholarship, benefiting the families of CCPD officers and criminal justice majors at the Island University.

The Texas A&M - Corpus Christi men’s basketball team used a late rally to pull within three with 26 seconds to play, but Denver (2-0) hit its free throws down the stretch to tally a 65-58 victory over the Islanders on Monday night.

Chris Hawkins-Mast led all scorers with 14 points, but the Texas A&M – Corpus Christi men’s basketball team was unable to keep pace with Big 12 foe Oklahoma State in the season opener, falling 71-39 at Gallagher-Iba Arena. Freshman Nate Maxey had four blocks and eight rebounds in his debut, most of those in the first half, in the loss.

The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi men’s basketball team has signed William Nelson (Acadiana, La./Hutchinson CC) to a National Letter of Intent, head coach Willis Wilson announced today. Nelson is a 6-foot-7, 215-pound small forward who will have two years of eligibility remaining when he joins the Islanders in the fall of 2012.
