CORPUS CHRISTI – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's basketball team took part in a special strength and conditioning session on Wednesday morning, as the Islanders and a group of Marines from Naval Air Station-Corpus Christi met up for a competition on the campus beach. It is the second straight year that the team has aligned its summer workouts with the soldiers.
After a circuit-style training course a week ago, the Islanders and Marines combined and broke into two teams this week. The teams took part in six different competitions on the campus beach – including a medicine-ball shotput, tire presses, tire flips, tug of war, shuttle relay and the team plank slalom. The collaboration will culminate with a Marine-style workout next Friday, Aug. 1, on the NAS-Corpus Christi base.
