Jordan Named GoIslanders.com Student-Athlete of the Week

CORPUS CHRISTIJohn Jordan has been named the GoIslanders.com Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by Pepsi. Jordan picks up the award after a solid performance in the Holiday Inn Downtown Marina Islanders Basketball Tournament, leading the Islanders to a 2-1 performance in the event.

In Friday's win over IPFW, the junior scored a career-high 28 points, including the game-winning jumper with 4.2 seconds remaining. He went 10 of 16 from the field and 7 of 9 from the free throw line. Jordan also added four rebounds, three assists and three steals in the team's opener in the American Bank Center.

He battled an injury in the final two days of the event, playing the role of distributor in Sunday's win with seven points, seven assists, six rebounds and two steals. However, the day prior, he dropped 18 points and nearly had a double-double with nine rebounds. His performance over the three-game stretch earned him all-tournament honors.

Earlier in the week, Jordan was able to hit the double-digit mark in scoring with 11, while tallying six rebounds and four assists against an Iowa State team that is now ranked 21st in the country.

The Islanders will be back in action in the American Bank Center on Wednesday, as they take on Rice at 7 p.m.
