The Islanders came out of the gate cold from the field, and Oleggio was just the opposite. Oleggio went 6-for-10 from beyond the arc in the first quarter, several of those from long range, to take a 23-16 lead at the first break.
But the Islanders came out strong, chipping away before finally taking their first lead at 29-28 on a Thomas layup. After a three-point lead gave Oleggio the lead back, the Islanders scored the half's final 14 points, as the 14-0 run sent them into the locker room up 43-31.
