"We're really excited for Islanders Invasion this year," men's basketball coach Willis Wilson said. "Our guys had so much fun last year. It should be a great celebration of Islanders Basketball."
It will be the first Islanders Invasion experience for women's basketball coach Royce Chadwick, who is entering his first season at the helm of the Texas A&M – Corpus Christi program.
"I can't wait to get in front of our fans for the first time at Islanders Invasion," Chadwick said. "I think our fans will see a new mindset from our team this season – our work ethic, our determination, our focus. We're looking forward to a fun night celebrating our university."
Doors open to Islanders Invasion at 7 p.m. The first 600 students through the doors can pick up a Blue Crew shirt and will be able to register for various drawings throughout the evening. In addition to 10-minute scrimmages for both the men's and women's basketball teams, the evening will feature performances by the award-winning Islanders Cheer and Dance teams and the Islanders pep band. Both men's and women's players will take part in a 3-point contest, and the always-popular slam dunk contest for the men's team will be another highlight of the evening.
Coach Chadwick and Coach Wilson will also address the crowd at the event, and there will be a meet and greet on the floor following the event.
