Islanders Wrap Up Week With Team Bootcamp
The Islanders men’s and women’s basketball teams got a special workout this morning, as they took part in a team bootcamp organized by the strength and conditioning staff and led by a trio of local Marines. The Islanders had three stations on the beach, then did a circuit jog around the Island with exercises at set intervals.

Former Islanders Star Chris Daniels Named to NBA D-League Select Team
CORPUS CHRISTI – Former Islanders center Chris Daniels will be one of 11 players on the NBA D-League Select Team taking part in the Las Vegas Summer League, which opens play this week. The D-League Select Team will participate in the event alongside 23 NBA teams, with each team playing five games.

Kennon Dvorak Named to NABC Honors Court
Texas A&M – Corpus Christi men’s basketball player Kennon Dvorak was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches 2011-12 Honors Court on Tuesday, becoming the only current player from the Southland Conference to receive the honor.

Men's Basketball Announces Signing of Cole Martinez
The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi men’s basketball team has signed Cole Martinez (San Antonio/Air Force Academy Prep) to join the Islanders for the 2012-13 season, head coach Willis Wilson announced today. The 6-foot-2, 175-pound guard played high school basketball at Central Catholic High School in San Antonio.

The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi men’s basketball program wrapped up a strong 2012 summer camp season this weekend, concluding with the team camp on Sunday, July 1. Hundreds of youngsters visited the campus and learned more about the game of basketball from the Islanders’ staff.

Islanders Add San Antonio's Kite to Men's Basketball Roster
Jerred Kite (San Antonio/Antonian Prep) is the latest addition to the Texas A&M – Corpus Christi men’s basketball team for the 2012-13 season, it was announced today. Kite is enrolled in summer classes at the university and has begun participating with the team.

Islanders Place Record 73 Student-Athletes on Commissioner’s Honor Roll
FRISCO, Texas – The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi athletic department continued its academic rise, placing 72 student-athletes on the Southland Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll for the semester, it was announced on Tuesday. Included in that total were 14 Islanders who earned a 4.0 GPA during the spring.

Francis Added to Men's Basketball's Incoming Class
Dale Francis, a 6-foot-9 forward from Leighton Buzzard, Central Bedfordshire, England, has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Texas A&M – Corpus Christi men’s basketball program, Head Coach Willis Wilson announced today. Francis has played the last five years at the Canarias Basketball Academy in the Canary Islands.

The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi men’s basketball team has signed Zane Knowles (Nassau, Bahamas/Pearl River CC) to a National Letter of Intent, Head Coach Willis Wilson announced today. Knowles will have two years of eligibility remaining when he arrives at the Island University for the 2012-13 season.

The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi men’s basketball team has signed three players to National Letters of Intent, head coach Willis Wilson announced today. Jelani Currie (Albany, N.Y./Albany Academy), Brandon Pye (Mansfield, Texas/Timberview) and Joy Williamson (Oklahoma City, Okla./Redlands CC) have all signed on to join the Islanders program heading into the 2012-13 season.

Wang Named Second Team Southland All-Academic
Sophomore center Ted Wang of the Texas A&M – Corpus Christi men’s basketball team has been named to the Southland Conference’s All-Academic Second Team, the conference announced today. Wang, a business major with a 3.15 GPA, is the first Islanders player to earn academic all-conference distinction since Matt Slatnick was a second-team selection in 2007.

Junior guard Terence Jones (Baltimore, Md.) has earned honorable mention from the Southland Conference’s coaches and sports information directors, the league announced today. Jones led the Islanders and finished seventh in the league with his 13.7 points per game.

Johnathan Jordan’s runner in the lane with four seconds left proved the difference as the Texas A&M – Corpus Christi men’s basketball team posted a 67-65 win over Central Arkansas on Saturday night at the American Bank Center. Playing in his final game in an Islanders uniform, senior Chris Hawkins-Mast delivered a career-high 25 points in the victory.

The Texas A&M - Corpus Christi men’s basketball team returns home for the final game of the 2011-12 season on Saturday night, when it hosts Central Arkansas for a 7 p.m. tipoff. The contest will be Senior Night, as the Islanders honor Chris Hawkins-Mast prior to his final game for A&M - Corpus Christi. It will also be Community and Military Appreciation Night, with ticket specials for military members and Coastal Bend residents. Jake Kocher had a career-high 15 points and Chris Hawkins-Mast posted 18, but UT Arlington pulled away in the final four minutes for a 78-64 victory over the Texas A&M – Corpus Christi men’s basketball team on Wednesday at the College Park Center. The Mavericks remained undefeated in conference play at 15-0 and improved to 23-6 overall with the win.

Chris Hawkins-Mast scored 17 points and Terence Jones added 16, but Sam Houston State overcame a late 49-48 deficit and finished the game on a 13-4 run to knock off the Texas A&M – Corpus Christi men’s basketball team, 61-53, on Saturday at the American Bank Center. Steven Werner had 23 points and 12 boards for the Bearkats (10-15, 4-7 Southland).

Texas A&M - Corpus Christi returns to the friendly confines of Stripes Court at the American Bank Center for the first time in two weeks when it takes on Sam Houston State on Saturday at 1 p.m. The contest will be a crucial one in the Southland Conference standings, as the two squads are currently tied for seventh in the league, with six teams currently battling for the final two spots in the conference tournament.

The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi men’s basketball team will once again use its scoring to help Corpus Christi’s finest, as the second annual Hoops for Blue Scholars game will take place on Saturday, Feb. 11, against Sam Houston State at the American Bank Center. For every field goal the Islanders score, money will be raised to help support the One Hundred Club Scholarship, benefiting the families of CCPD officers and criminal justice majors at the Island University.

Three players finished in double figures for the Texas A&M – Corpus Christi men’s basketball team, but Savannah State (14-10) forced 17 turnovers with its press defense to post a 55-49 victory over the Islanders on Monday at Tiger Arena. Myron Dempsey had a double-double with 14 points and 11 boards in the loss.

The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi men’s basketball team staged a furious rally, overcoming a 25-point first-half deficit to push first-place UT Arlington to the brink, but the Mavericks were able to survive with a 77-73 victory on Wednesday at the Dugan Wellness Center. Kennon Dvorak scored a career-high 15 and Terence Jones led the Islanders with 17 points (2-15, 1-4 Southland) in a losing effort.

Texas A&M - Corpus Christi begins 2012 on the hardwood on Wednesday, Jan. 4, when it takes on Lamar in the conference opener for both teams. LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi men’s basketball team saw a halftime lead evaporate as Kennesaw State went 24-for-30 at the free throw line in the second half in overcoming a 16-point deficit on the way to a 69-65 victory over the Islanders on Friday afternoon. The game was the final of the Las Vegas Classic for the team and will be the last until facing Rice on Dec. 28, in Houston.

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi men’s basketball team was unable to overcome an early second-half surge by Bethune – Cookman on Thursday afternoon, falling by a 61-52 final at the first on-site game of the Continental Tires Las Vegas Classic. In a game that was just 30-28 at halftime, the Wildcats hit from long range three times just over four minutes into the second half to extend the lead to double digits on the way to a nine-point victory.
