Top Performance #4: Islanders Dance Crowned NDA Challenge Cup Champions

The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi dance team was headed to Daytona Beach, Fla. on April 10, to compete in the 2014 National Dance Alliance (NDA) Collegiate National Championships for the second straight year.

The Islanders went in equipped with a challenging, high-energy contemporary jazz routine featuring choreography that the Islanders said was outside of their comfort zone and unlike anything they had performed before.

In the end it paid off as the Islanders recorded their highest score in program history to win the Challenge Cup with a program-best score of 9.313. The squad earned a final score of 9.100 in the Division I Open, just .74 points behind first-place winner Utah Valley University.

The NDA National Championships are the largest championships in the world for collegiate dance teams. The event hosted 28 divisions and a combined 304 cheer and dance teams.
