Baseball Travels To San Antonio For Midweek Contest Against UTSA
The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi Baseball team will travel to San Antonio on Tuesday for a midweek non-conference game at UTSA. The teams are set for a 6 p.m. contest on the Roadrunners' campus.
The Islanders (19-12) come into the contest on a five-game winning streak, winning the final two of the series against Oral Roberts, and then earning a sweep over Nicholls on the road this past weekend. UTSA (18-13) went 3-1 over their last four games, beating Seattle twice and San Jose State once while falling against Texas A&M.
The Islanders are led offensively by Eric Weiss, with the senior hitting at a .345 clip during the year. Jonathan Gonzales and Zach Taylor are tied for second with a .320 batting average in 2013. Gonzales leads the team with 28 RBI, while Weiss has added 26 and Taylor is third with 16.
For the Roadrunners, Daniel Rockett leads the way at .475 on the season, while RJ Perucki leads the team with 10 doubles, eight home runs, 31 RBI and also has a .380 batting average.
Adam Hoelscher (1-3, 5.45 ERA) will get the start for the Islanders, and he will go against Nolan Trabanino (3-2, 3.78 ERA) of UTSA.
The two teams met in a midweek game earlier in the year, with the Roadrunners taking a 19-4 final at Chapman Field.
