AUSTIN – The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi Baseball team was scheduled to take on the Texas Longhorns Tuesday night at Disch – Falk Field, but weather in the area forced the cancellation of the contest before it could ever get started.
The teams held off on calling it until shortly before the scheduled first pitch, but the combination of heavy rain and lightning in the area saw the coaches agree to call it off and try to reschedule for a later date in the season.
The cancellation leaves the Islanders with just one midweek contest now, as the team will face the Corpus Christi Hooks on Wednesday night at Whataburger Field. Corpus Christi native Adam Hoelscher will get the start against the Astros AA minor league team, and it will be the first ever meeting between the two teams, with the exhibition scheduled to go off the day before the start of the Hooks regular season.
