Top Performance #7: Gonzales' Fireworks Lead Islanders to Win at UHV
Baseball is a sport like any other. One team goes home the winner and the other does not. On the eve of April 26, one Islander made the difference in a what turned into a closely contested game.
Jonathan Gonzales went 4-for-4 with two home runs and six RBI, leading the way to his team's 10-8 win over the Houston - Victoria Jaguars.
Gonzales' six RBI were the most for an Islanders player since Chris Vergne had six against Southeastern Louisiana on April 23, 2010.
In a season where he led in several offensive categories, Gonzales scored 25 runs and had 52 hits. He also led the team with nine home runs, including two in his breakout performance during the UHV game. It was the first game in a week that ended with him being named the Southland Conference Hitter of the Week.
