The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi baseball team will play its first home game in two weeks starting Friday with a three-game Southland Conference series at Chapman Field on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The Islanders played the past six games on the road, with trips to Austin, Natchitoches, La. and Waco to play Texas, Northwestern State and Baylor.
The Islanders are 15-22 on the season, with an 8-10 mark in Southland Conference games. SFA is 14-23 overall, and 7-11 in league play. The Islanders will start Trevor Foss on Friday, Adam Hoelscher on Saturday, and Daniel Minor on Sunday against the Lumberjacks.
SFA will have a scheduled starting rotation of Chase Greening, Cameron Gann, and Colton Eubanks on the mound.
Offensively, Jordan Lee leads the team with a .304 average on the season, including a .349 mark in Southland games only. Eric Weiss leads the team with 16 RBI, and is second on the team with a .263 average. Jonathan Gonzales has a team-high five home runs, and is second on the team with 14 RBI.
Hunter Dozier has a team-best .359 average and 24 RBI for SFA. Rene Moreda is hitting .297 on the year, while Max Lamantia is at .293 and Freddy Villalobos is at .293 this season. Bobby Loveless is second on the team with 22 RBI, while Dozier is also the team leader with eight homers.
