Islanders Travel South to Face UTPA Broncs in Doubleheader

The Texas A&M – Corpus Christi baseball team will take to the road once again on Tuesday morning, heading south to take on the Texas – Pan American Broncs in Edinburg. The teams are scheduled to play a pair of games, one at 3 p.m. and one at 7 p.m., at the Edinburg Baseball Stadium.

The Islanders are 10-10 on the year and coming off of a Sunday win over Southeastern Louisiana to salvage a 1-2 weekend. UTPA was last in action a week ago on Tuesday and Wednesday, splitting a pair of games against the #8 Texas A&M Aggies.

For Texas A&M – Corpus Christi, Trevor Foss and Jake Dziubczynski will get the start on the mound for the visitors. For the Broncs, Colby McCasland and Guadalupe Barrera will get the starting nod.

Foss comes into the game with a 0-2 record and 5.27 ERA in five appearances with two starts. Dziubczynski is 0-1 with a 3.86 ERA in two starts and seven total outings. UTPA's McCasland is 1-0 with a 1.29 ERA in one start and two appearances. Barrera sports a 4.91 ERA in two games with a 0-0 record this season.

Eric Weiss leads the Islanders offense with a .324 batting average and is second on the team with nine RBI. Kyle Danford holds the team lead with 12 RBI while hitting .246 for Texas A&M – Corpus Christi. Jordan Lee is the only other player on the team with at least 15 at-bats that is hitting above .300, with a .316 average.

For UTPA, Chris Torres leads the way with a .484 batting average and 10 RBI. There are five players on the team that hit .350 or better, and Derek Hagy leads the team with 11 RBI on the year.
